Bethpage Black is more than a golf course, it is the People’s Country Club. Opened in 1936 as part of the New York State Park system, it has challenged golfers for generations and hosted some of the game’s greatest moments, from Tiger Woods’ win at the 2002 U.S. Open to the upcoming Ryder Cup. What makes it truly the People’s Country Club is not just the history or the championships, it is the Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation crew, the backbone of the Black. Out before sunrise and still working when the sun sets, they cut the greens, repair the bunkers, and keep the course sharp for every New Yorker who tees it up with resident rates of $70, compared to $140 for non-residents. This collection was created as a tribute to those workers, their visibility, their labor, and their pride, through a limited hi-viz orange jacket marked “CREW” and a green cap in the official Parks Service color, honoring the people who keep world class golf on public land alive for New Yorkers.
